Learning

At Hera House, we want to deliver a high quality, aspirational curriculum that enables and supports all learners to achieve their full academic potential. Our curriculum is bound by our learning values, which are what we want our students to be or become: Curious, Independent, Creative, Innovative, Confident, Inclusive.

When we designed our curriculum, we considered what our students needed to know, what they needed to be able to do, and what we wanted them to achieve.

We have three pathways for learning; Discoverers, Adventurers and Explorers. All pathways are given the same diet of subjects but the way in which we deliver the learning is different between pathways, in order to meet the needs of those students. The pathways are not based on academic ability but on levels of need, including attendance and preferred learning styles, and students can move between pathways as their needs change.

Our learning is based around ‘Big Questions’ to help our students to become more curious and we also use a range of additional platforms, such as TT Rockstars, Accelerated Reader and EdShed, to support and consolidate the learning.
